About the Programme

The University of Cape Coast (UCC), in collaboration with the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), offers a 3-Semester Bachelor of Education (Post-Diploma in Basic Education) programme. The programme is designed to help holders of the Diploma in Basic Education (DBE) advance their qualifications by acquiring a Bachelor’s degree in Basic Education.

This three-semester programme takes place over three long vacation periods, each lasting eight weeks. The programme is conducted during school vacations, so participants do not need to take a study leave to attend. To support learning, the programme combines face-to-face teaching with online learning, ensuring that course content is covered within the given time frame.

Programmes Offered

The 3-Semester Bachelor of Education Sandwich Programme offers the following specializations:

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Early Childhood Education
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Primary Education
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Junior High School Education

For Primary and Junior High School Education, the following electives are available:

• Mathematics, Science, English Language, Social Studies, ICT, Religious and Moral Education, Agricultural Science, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Physical Education, and Ghanaian Language.

For Junior High School Education, additional electives include:

• Home Economics, French, Mathematics, and Science.

Eligibility

This programme is designed for undergraduates who hold a Diploma in Basic Education (DBE) from an accredited institution. Only those with this qualification are eligible to apply.

Eligible candidates can purchase the E-Voucher for GH₵ 220.00 from the following outlets:

• GCB Bank branches nationwide
• ADB Bank branches nationwide
• ARB Bank branches nationwide
• GT Bank, Republic Bank, Zenith Bank, Prudential Bank, and NIB Bank branches nationwide

After purchasing the E-Voucher, applicants should visit topup.ucc.edu.gh to access the registration form. Under the “Application Process” section, applicants should click “Click to Apply for a Programme” for further instructions.

When applying, candidates must select a study centre that offers their preferred programme and electives.

Special Note for Visually Impaired Applicants:

Applicants who are visually impaired may only select Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong, as their study centre.

Fees

The application fee covers tuition, accommodation, and feeding for the duration of the programme.
